Dorette began her career at the young age of six, performing in the musical 'Gigi,' followed by Pieter Fourie's theatre production 'Die Joiner' and portraying Brigitta in David Matheson's 'The Sound of Music.' Since 1980, she has been involved in radio dramas and various dubbing projects for South African Television. Her film debut came in 1989, playing the young Jane in 'Circles in a Forest,' directed by Regardt van der Bergh.
With a background in musical theatre, ballet training, and a Drama degree, Dorette faced numerous challenges and injuries that shaped her into the resilient and determined individual she is today.
Dorette Potgieter is a well-known South African actress and celebrity, with a career spanning film, television, and theatre since the 1980s. She has collaborated with both local and international directors and became widely recognized in 1997 for her role as Susan Bosman in 'Egoli.' Her leading roles in television series include 'Vloeksteen,' 'Soutmansland,' 'Villa Rosa,' 'Hard Copy,' 'Plek van die Vleisvreeters,' and 'Rhythm City.' She also gained success as the host of the talk show 'Glitterati' on DSTV's kykNet. Internationally, she has worked with broadcasters from Canada, Germany, France, and the UK.
Since 2006, Dorette has worked as a producer for stage productions and music for film and television. She is currently developing, co-producing, and presenting travel reality television.
