Alexandra Neldel was born in 1976 in West Berlin, Germany. Her parents divorced during her childhood. Her father is a hunter.
Deciding whether to stay with her father or mother was always difficult for her. Perhaps this is why she chose to leave home and live independently at the age of 16. Nevertheless, she maintains a strong relationship with both parents.
After completing "Realschule" in Berlin-Steglitz, she began working as a dental assistant. Although she held this position for only a year, she also worked as a hostess during that time. In 1992, she was discovered by the head of a German casting agency at a polo competition. Despite having no acting experience, she landed a role in the German daily soap opera Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten. After leaving the show in 1999, Neldel appeared in several German films and TV movies, including Lammbock, Samba in Mettmann, and the Emmy-winning series Berlin, Berlin.
She never formally studied acting, adopting a "learning by doing" approach. In interviews, she has stated that acting was never her dream and that she was content as a dental assistant. However, she now enjoys her acting career and finds fulfillment in connecting with audiences.
Her breakthrough came in 2005 when she began portraying Lisa Plenske in the highly successful German daily soap opera Verliebt in Berlin. She left the series after 365 episodes. Following her departure, the show’s popularity declined significantly. The 365th episode attracted over seven million viewers in Germany, making it a profitable production for the Sat1 channel.
In 2006, Neldel was awarded "Best European Soap Actress" and received the Rose d'Or (Golden Rose) Award.
Though often regarded as a sex symbol, she rejects this label. She is also seen as a "girls' girl," with most of her fanbase being female.
She keeps her private life strictly confidential, avoiding personal stories in the media to maintain her privacy.
Today, Alexandra Neldel is among Germany’s most successful actresses, with a substantial fanbase in France as well, where Verliebt in Berlin became the most successful German series ever broadcast.
