Sheree da Costa is an actor and dancer with experience in film, television, and musical theatre. She is a former Principal dancer with The Australian Ballet and previously performed with Sydney Dance Company. Sheree appeared in Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, directed by Wes Ball, and features in The Deb, a film directed and produced by Rebel Wilson. She also guest-starred in Season 5, Episode 7 of the popular Australian series Bump, released on Stan TV in January 2025. Notably, she starred as The Dancer in Dancing With My Mother (2022), directed by Richard de Carvalho and produced by Carol Jovicic for Lunacraft Productions, with Sheree da Costa as Executive Producer. This self-devised, semi-biographical short film is a tribute to her late son Joseph. It toured film festivals throughout 2023 and 2024, earning multiple awards and selections, including Best Actress in an Indie Film at the Cannes World Film Festival and Best Actress at the Busan New Wave Short Film Festival.
Sheree is currently writing an intimate and detailed book adaptation of Dancing With My Mother. The story explores themes of love, hope, talent, potential, humor, and family, while addressing addiction, depression, suicide, and the challenges of Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD). Above all, Dancing With My Mother celebrates the unbreakable bond between mother and son, a connection that endures beyond death.
