Ricky Hui was born on August 3, 1946, in Panyu, Guangdong, China. In 1950, he and his family relocated to Hong Kong. With a violinist father and a mother passionate about Cantonese opera, Ricky and his siblings developed a love for music and acting. Eventually, Ricky and his brothers, Michael Hui and Sam Hui, pursued careers in the entertainment industry, often appearing together in numerous comedy films. Ricky also acted in several vampire and horror movies, frequently starring alongside Ching-Ying Lam as his apprentice.
In addition to acting, Ricky is a singer who has released seven albums. He wrote songs for his brother Sam and performed in his concerts. Ricky also took part in stage productions. In 2001, he was featured in a documentary about Hong Kong's entertainment scene titled "Laughing Kaleidoscope," which highlighted Ricky and various other artists on stage. He also performed at the Sing Along Golden Hits Encore Concert in 2004 and the "Rosanne in Starry Night Concert" in 2006.
Like his brothers, Ricky remains a highly respected figure in Hong Kong's entertainment industry.
