Satya Bhabha is a director, writer, and performer whose work has been showcased at numerous festivals, including TIFF, SXSW, Palm Springs, Telluride Film Festival, and OutFest. Recently, he has directed series for Apple, Showtime, Amazon, Max, and Peacock, and appeared in the popular Netflix series "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off." He has also developed and sold original projects to Amazon and Conde Nast.
As an actor, Satya is recognized for his lead role as Saleem Sinai in Salman Rushdie's "Midnight's Children," Matthew Patel in "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," and the recurring character Shivrang on the TV show "New Girl." He has had recurring roles on the Wachowskis' "Sense8" and the Peabody Award-winning "Key & Peele." His extensive theatre work includes performances at The Public Theatre, The Signature Theatre, Shakespeare's Globe in London, and the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles.
Satya has created award-winning immersive theatre experiences, such as the 48-hour luxury travel adventure The Headlands Gamble. He has toured original live performances across Europe and the United States and serves as the artistic director of the Los Angeles-based theatre company Public Assembly.
A graduate of Yale University, Satya received the Sudler Prize for the arts. He has played the cello from a young age, performing worldwide with symphonies, chamber ensembles, and bands. He was the cellist for the LA-based band He's My Brother She's My Sister. Satya has been married to his husband since 2016.
