Mimo Billi, the stage name of Giacomo Gilli, was an Italian actor. Some sources state he was born in Imola, not Bologna, in 1910 (rather than 1915). He was raised in a boarding school in Bergamo and, as an adult, moved first to Genoa and then to Rome. From 1935 to 1946, he lived in Africa, where he toured Abyssinia, Somalia, and Eritrea with his own theater company. Volunteering at the outbreak of World War II, he was captured at the Battle of Agordat and returned to Italy only after the war ended. Between 1950 and 1969, he appeared in fifty films, often in character roles. He also worked in soap operas and appeared in numerous television dramas, series, and originals from 1962 to 1967. On stage, he played the Duke in Richard Beynon's drama "The Shifting Heart," directed by Leo McKern, alongside Clelia Matania, Adrienne Corri, Kenneth J. Warren, and others. In 1961, he was featured in François Mauriac's "Thérèse Desqueyroux," directed by Giorgio Albertazzi.
