Helen Parker serves as Managing Director and Executive Vice President of Universal Pictures Content Group within Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.
Operating from London, Parker leads Universal Pictures Content Group globally, managing teams across London, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. She oversees the acquisition, production, marketing, and distribution of content, collaborating with top international talent across diverse entertainment sectors including documentary, family, theatre, live events, anime, and Asian drama for Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.
Under her leadership, Universal Pictures Content Group complements the Studio and Focus Features slates, connecting talent and content with audiences innovatively and effectively for over 30 years. The business has continually adapted to evolving audience preferences and consumption patterns, maintaining its reputation as an agile, entrepreneurial studio that delivers innovative, customized strategies while maximizing NBCUniversal’s global reach.
The group’s notable credits include the BAFTA-nominated and highest-grossing documentary of 2022, Moonage Daydream (directed by Academy Award® nominee Brett Morgen); the Emmy-nominated Tina (directed by Academy Award® winners Dan Lindsay and T.J. Martin); the BAFTA-nominated, Emmy-winning Apollo 11 (directed by Todd Douglas Miller); the critically acclaimed The Blackening (directed by Tim Story); Ti West’s psychological horror Pearl; the commercially successful Asian drama Scarlet Heart; and three record-breaking live event cinema performances—Billy Elliot The Musical Live, Miss Saigon: 25th Anniversary, and Les Misérables: The Staged Concert. Prior to heading Universal Pictures Content Group, Parker was Joint Managing Director of Universal Pictures (UK) Ltd, overseeing all company operations in the UK with a focus on Special Interest content. Before joining Universal, she held various roles in Home Entertainment, starting as a PA, advancing to Head of Press and Publicity, then A&R Director at Virgin Vision, and ultimately Joint Managing Director of Vision Video Limited. There, Parker pioneered the creation of the ‘Special Interest’ category within Home Entertainment, introducing diverse genres such as stand-up comedy, musicals, and fitness that resonated with audiences and generated hundreds of millions of pounds in UK retail value. Her talent-spotting abilities helped launch the careers of household names like Lee Evans, Ricky Gervais, Peter Kay, and Michael Flatley.
