Natalia Bruschtein was born in Argentina and has resided in Mexico since 1976. She studied film at the Film Training Centre (CCC) in Mexico and graduated as a film director with her documentary Finding Víctor, which was nominated for Best Documentary Short by the Mexican Film Academy. She has experience in various areas of film production. As a sound designer, she won the Ariel Award for Best Sound for the documentary In the Pit, directed by Juan Carlos Rulfo. However, her primary focus is film editing. She has edited several award-winning documentaries and fiction films, including Cobrador: In God We Trust by director Paul Leduc, for which she received the Coral Award at the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema. The documentary Rosario by Shula Erenberg, which she edited, has also earned numerous accolades. In 2015, she directed her first feature film, Time Suspended, which has been featured in many festivals and won multiple awards. At the Guadalajara International Film Festival, it received three honors: the Iberoamerican Documentary Jury's Special Award, the FIPRESCI Award, and a Special Mention Mezcal Award. The film also won the Audience Award at the Festival de la Memoria Documental Iberoamericano, the Mexican Documentary Special Mention at the Guanajuato International Film Festival, the Let's Face Aging Main Award for Best Documentary at the Budapest International Documentary Festival, and the Golden Plaque Documentary Competition at the Chicago International Film Festival. Additionally, it earned a Special Mention Tato Miller Award at the International Film Festival of Mar de Plata, Argentina (SICA-AMPA), and the Feisal Award at the Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana, Cuba. Bruschtein was nominated for Best Documentary at the Biarritz Festival Latin America, where she also received an artistic residency in Lizières, France, in 2016 to develop the project En la piel del otro. She won Best Feature Documentary at the Sehsüchte - International Student's Film Festival and was nominated for Best Documentary at the 2016 Ariel Awards for Time Suspended.
