Raised as a first-generation Cuban American in Miami's rough neighborhoods, Jorge earned the nickname "Jokes" from his graffiti artist tag before transitioning to filmmaking. His breakthrough came as creative director of The Roof, a prime-time Latin Urban music show on Telemundo's MUN2, where he became the first to program Reggaeton on U.S. television. In the early 2000s, Jokes was a dominant force in the music industry, directing videos for artists like T-Pain, Plies, Mike Jones, and Slim Thug. He helmed one of YouTube's earliest viral videos, "Ground Hog Day" by Mayday featuring CeeLo Green, followed by the crossover hit "Lean like a Cholo." In 2009, Jokes earned an Emmy for editing the first American-style mini-series produced for Spanish television, Gabriel: Amor Immortal. Following his success in music and television, he fully embraced narrative filmmaking, directing his first feature, Eenie Meenie Miney Moe (2013), which premiered at the Miami Film Festival and secured worldwide distribution. He also built an extensive portfolio of short films that have toured festivals for over two years, garnering several prestigious awards. In 2013, Jokes partnered with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation to produce philanthropic films addressing addiction. Since then, he has directed and produced numerous projects for clients including HBO, Complex, Universal Music, Atlantic Records, and Rolling Loud.
