Richard Walters is an award-winning actor and producer from Toronto, Canada. He launched his professional acting career as a series regular on "Degrassi," appearing in six seasons of the popular teen drama. Since then, he has appeared in numerous acclaimed films and TV shows, including "Akilla's Escape" (TIFF 2020), "American Woman" (TIFF 2019), "Frankie Drake Mysteries," "Hudson & Rex," and "Diggstown." In 2020, Richard received the Reelworld Film Festival's Stand Out Actor for a Short Film Award for his role in "An Uninvited Guest." Alongside his thriving acting career, he has produced a variety of award-winning short films, music videos, TV pilots, and web series. His music video and short film hybrid "Speak" earned the Jury Award for Best Short Film at the Miami 4 Social Change Film Festival. In 2019, he produced "Zeen?," a comedic mockumentary examining the influence of culture, race, and privilege on the Caribbean diaspora. This project was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto. After a successful international festival run, the film won multiple awards and was distributed by CaribbeanTales Media Group. Richard also stars as Airman Jacobs on the HBO series "IT, Welcome to Derry."
Performing under the name Morpheus Richards, he writes and composes his own music. The name "Morpheus" is inspired by the Greek god of dreams. Since beginning his music career in 2016, Morpheus has steadily risen as a dedicated professional in his craft. Influenced early on by artists like James Brown, Michael Jackson, Usher, Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, and his Caribbean heritage, he is a versatile artist who explores genres ranging from Hip-Hop and R&B to Dancehall and Afrobeat. With over 15 years of experience performing in musical theatre, show choir, and artist showcases, Morpheus is recognized as one of Canada’s top performers. He is driven to share his music and message with the world. Known as "The Dreamer," Morpheus is ready to take his fans on a musical journey and elevate his career to new heights.
