Daniel holds dual British and Australian citizenship and has earned a Doctorate in Creative Arts. He has been a finalist for Australian of the Year and the Australian Playwright awards, won Best Director at the Florence Film Awards, and Best Screenplay at the New York Film Awards. As an Ambassador for the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation, he also received the Collins Booksellers Arts Award and serves as Artistic Director of Salt House Creative. From 2000 to 2007, Daniel hosted and segment produced the popular children’s show Saturday Disney. This role allowed him to cover the opening of Disney's California Adventure, the London launch of 20th Century Fox’s Ice Age 2, represent Australia at the Millennium Dreamer’s Global Summit, and report on Hong Kong Disneyland's 2005 opening. While at Network Seven, he contributed to the writing team of Home & Away, presented the backyard renovation show Ground Force, and performed at the Melbourne and Perth Telethons. His provocative black comedy addressing the global refugee crisis, Worm Farming, premiered at the National Museum of Australia in 2017 and was recently published by Australian Plays. The play received endorsement from human rights and refugee advocate Julian Burnside AO QC. Following its success, Daniel joined the Australian Writers’ Guild and now serves as a judging panel member. His recent acting roles include Scalpel in NCIS, the antagonist Mr. Whitney in ABC Studios’ crime drama Reef Break, Clarky in Last King of the Cross, Terry in Royal Flying Doctors Service, Kenny in Strife, Xavier Johnson in the feature film Xavier’s Harvest, Mr. Collins in Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, as well as appearances in Harrow, The Invisibles, and Pictures at an Exhibition. His current projects feature the upcoming reality show America’s Next Champion, and children’s series Maui Kitty’s Play Day and Croakadilly & the Princess.
