Otmar Hitzelberger is a producer and independent filmmaker based in Frankfurt, Germany. He studied Film at the Filmacademy Berlin (dffb) in 1980. In 2001, he established his production company, OPEN LENS. His body of work spans documentaries, social image films, and fictional productions, including "Kranke Männer" (1985, fiction), "Die Allerletzten" (2009, documentary), "So nahe, so fern" (2010, autobiographical documentary), and "Look4Them" (2013, fictional drama). In 2003, Hitzelberger published his novel "Schritt für Schritt ins Paradies" through Büchergilde Gutenberg. Since 2007, he has been teaching Filmmaking at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, Acting & Directing at the Filmacting School Cologne since 2005, and "Film in Social Work" at the University of Applied Sciences Frankfurt since 2001.
