Bob Seger is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. During the 1960s, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System, achieving his first national hit and album in 1968. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the 'System' from his recordings and continued seeking wider success with different bands. In 1973, he formed the Silver Bullet Band, composed of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he gained national recognition through the album Live Bullet (1976), recorded live in 1975 at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan. His studio album Night Moves (1976) marked his national breakthrough. Seger has produced numerous hits, such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man," "Night Moves," "Turn the Page," "Still the Same," "We've Got Tonight," "Against the Wind," "Shame on the Moon," "Like a Rock," and "Shakedown," the latter written for Beverly Hills Cop II (1987). His rendition of "Old Time Rock and Roll" was honored as one of the Songs of the Century in 2001. Over a career spanning six decades, Seger has sold over 75 million records worldwide, ranking him among the best-selling artists ever. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2015, Billboard named him the Legend of Live at their 12th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards. Seger announced his farewell tour in September 2018.
