Patrick Rea is an accomplished, award-winning independent filmmaker known for his innovative storytelling and distinctive directing style in horror and suspense genres. His feature film "Nailbiter" earned Best Director and/or Best Feature Film awards at multiple film festivals in 2012. It was released on May 28, 2013, through Lionsgate Home Entertainment on DVD, VOD, Redbox, and Digital Downloads, and has since aired on FearNet, the Chiller Network, and The Horror Channel in the UK.
Rea's stylized short films have been showcased at over a hundred film festivals worldwide. In 2008, his short film "Woman's Intuition" won a Heartland Emmy Award. In 2009, he co-directed the comedy special "Jake Johanssen, I Love You," which aired on Showtime throughout 2010. He earned his second Heartland Emmy with the short "Get Off My Porch" and has received two Mid-America Emmy Award nominations.
Other directing projects include a six-part documentary series on Kansas City's Children's Mercy Hospital titled "Inside Pediatrics," narrated by Paul Rudd, which won a 2015 Mid-America Emmy Award. His 2010 short "Do Not Disturb" appeared in "The Invoking 2," released on Redbox on October 6, 2015, by Image Entertainment.
Rea’s latest horror feature, "Arbor Demon" (originally titled "Enclosure"), executive produced by Warren Ostergard and Marcel Sarmiento and starring Fiona Dourif and Jake Busey, premiered at FrightFest in the UK. It was released in North America on February 3, 2017, through Gravitas Ventures and is available on Redbox On Demand, Amazon, iTunes, and Vudu.
In 2017, Rea co-wrote seven episodes across Seasons 3 and 4 of CBS's Daytime Emmy-winning show "The Inspectors," and directed two episodes in Season 3 that aired in spring 2018.
His recent feature, the family drama "Belong to Us," was released on DVD at Walmart nationwide and on Video on Demand on August 6, 2019, via Archstone Distribution. His current horror feature, "I Am Lisa," is in post-production with an anticipated release in 2020.
