Ryan Andrew Cannon is an Emmy-nominated Creative Director and Producer specializing in film, animation, games, and new media across the US and EMEA regions. Raised in California, he earned a BA in English from Sacramento State University and an MFA in Producing from the American Film Institute Conservatory in Hollywood, where he interned with Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, Neverending Story).
Following graduate school, Ryan produced his first feature film, which premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival and was later distributed by Netflix. He then transitioned into animation development under the mentorship of Terry Thoren (Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys).
Over a 15-year career in Los Angeles, Ryan collaborated on animation projects with clients such as PBS, DreamWorks, and Dr. Seuss. His award-winning educational animations were created for organizations including the Betty Ford Center, Boy Scouts of America, Barbara Sinatra Children's Center, and TeachTown. His work on PBS Kids' "SciGirls, Season 2" earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding New Approaches.
Ryan’s extensive experience in educational content also encompasses developing products and curricula that teach storytelling to children. His StoryMaker product enabled the creation of the first animated feature film by children, "The WonderGrove Wizard of Oz," which was screened at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
His acclaimed short film "Are You Okay?" (2021) received the Best Animation award at the One-Reeler Film Competition and won the Grand Jury Prize at the San Diego International Kids Film Festival.
Currently, Ryan lives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he serves as a Creative Director, managing animated features, TV shows, and product development for audiences of all ages.
