Bruce Wabbit is an award-winning filmmaker, director, and visual effects artist originally from Wellington, New Zealand, based in Vancouver, British Columbia. He began his career in visual effects and editing, contributing to major Hollywood productions including Spider-Man 3, Batman Begins, and Captain America: Civil War, before transitioning into directing and cinematography.
Wabbit’s work centers on character-driven storytelling that explores tension, identity, and the psychological impact of lived experience. Grounded in realism, his films often unfold in contained environments where performance, atmosphere, and restraint shape the narrative.
His films have screened at festivals and received recognition for their controlled approach to storytelling, with an emphasis on subtle escalation and emotionally charged moments. His recent projects include the award-winning short The River City Ransom (2026), along with Off/Guard (2024) and Siobhan (2020). Earlier works include Just to be Frank, The Counterfeit Detective (a fan film inspired by the Luther), and The Angriest Man in Town.
