Several years ago, KALI, a 16-year-old singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, began crafting and recording his distinctive, sparkling indie-rock tunes and formed his first band, Big Wednesday. Their sincere and relatable indie-surf sound attracted energetic teenage audiences to local Los Angeles spots like The Smell and The Viper Room.
"As I matured, my experiences became deeper and more personal, making songwriting a vital outlet rather than just a fun activity," KALI shares, reflecting on the intense, introspective journey that inspired his solo work as KALI.
KALI’s music is expansive, enchanting, and genuine. It features dramatic loops and spacious, meditative moments, building emotionally rich atmospheres through captivating repetitions and occasional sonic minimalism. His vocal lines, intricate yet expansive, seem to float over a fusion of alternative rock styles, including shoegaze, psychedelic rock, and dream pop.
