Sophie Evans was raised in Tonypandy, located in the Rhondda Valleys of Wales, alongside her younger sister Beth and their parents, Michelle and David. In 2010, Sophie competed on BBC One's Over the Rainbow, Andrew Lloyd Webber's search for a Dorothy, finishing as the runner-up. Following this, she attended Arts Educational Schools Chiswick to study musical theatre. She then became the Alternate Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz," performing one show weekly at the London Palladium. After a year as the alternate, Sophie took on the role full-time, performing eight shows a week. Her vocal performances have taken place at numerous venues across the UK, including The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Opera House (for the Olivier Awards), The Wales Millennium Centre, The Millennium Stadium, Liberty Stadium, Cardiff City Stadium, The Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, Manchester Bridgewater Hall, and Headingley Stadium.
Sophie has appeared on various television programs, including a week-long appearance on S4C's cariad@iaith/love4language, where she learned Welsh alongside other Welsh personalities. ITV documented her year-long run in "The Wizard of Oz" with a documentary titled "Dare to Dream." She also appeared as part of The Marmalade Sandwich in Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's film The World's End (2013). Additionally, Sophie hosted her own Christmas show on BBC One Wales, performing with the BBC National Orchestra and special guests Michael Ball and Only Boys Aloud.
