Chie grew up in Japan, raised in an artist family. She has a BFA in Japanese painting from Musashino Art University. She also was trained in Japanese painting by the late Tamako Kataoka. Her paintings can be seen on orchestra fliers including for the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, costumes, hats and shoes, cutlery, books and magazines, Japan Post Co., Ltd. Eco-drive sticker design, Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments - art / design, Christmas decorations, to name a few. She has done more than 15 solo exhibitions in Tokyo in Japan.
Her international allure was underscored by her partnership with her daughter, Eru Gibson, for the Mother's Day Special of Vogue Patio Magazine in the United States. This mother and daughter duo collaborated on and published "Oracle Cards for Performers" together.
