Newell Alexander's stage credits feature original productions of Del Shores' "Cheatin'," "Daddy's Dyin' Who's Got the Will?" (including the film adaptation), "Sordid Lives" (also adapted into film), and "Southern Baptist Sissies." His television appearances include recurring roles on HBO's Big Love (2006), Arrested Development (2003), Alias (2001), and Walker, Texas Ranger (1993). He is a key member of the "L.A. MadDogs," a highly active voice-over group with credits in Ray (2003), Shark Tale (2004), Shrek (2001), Shrek 2 (2004), Madagascar (2005), Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004), and others. Newell has also lent his voice to commercials for Smith Barney, CVS Pharmacy, Cool Whip, Aleve, Pfizer, Acura, Coca-Cola, Wells Fargo Bank, and Washington Apples. He is the George W. Bush sound-alike for MoveOn.org and portrays Gen. Sam Houston as the host of the Texas History Museum's "Texas Hall of Heroes" at the State Capitol in Austin. Additionally, he has produced and performed in 33 hour-long radio dramas for the Autry Museum of Western Heritage for PBS. In 1983-84, Newell opened for Neil Young as the character "Dan Clear" in 70 shows. He and his wife Rosemary have five children and seven grandchildren.
