Kimberley Kates is an award-winning producer and actress based in Los Angeles. She leads Big Screen Entertainment Group alongside partners Dr. Bruce Lee, Stephen Eckelberry, Catherine Taylor, Sandro Monetti, Jimmy Jiang, and the Deka Bros.
As an actress, Kimberley has appeared in over 50 films and TV shows, such as Seinfeld, The Larry Sanders Show, Charmed, Growing Pains, Freddy's Nightmare, and Murder, She Wrote.
She made her film debut in the cult classic Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, portraying Princess Joanna alongside Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, Diane Franklin, and George Carlin.
Her producing credits include Dirty Love, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival; Babysitter Wanted; Forget About It; Mosquito Man; Air Strike; William Shatner's Gonzo Ballet; The Mirror; You Can't Kill Stephen King; Singularity Principle; an upcoming Cinderella project; and the Christmas adventure film Santa4Real.
Beyond producing, Kimberley has worked as a Distribution Executive for China on theatrical releases such as Papillon, starring Rami Malek and Charlie Hunnam, and the animated feature Ozzy, which opened on over 5,000 screens in China.
Her writing portfolio includes Avenger Field, a series about female pilots in World War II; Earth Angels; Dead End Dating, adapted from Kimberly Raye’s best-selling books; Black Magic; and The Encounter.
In 2016, Kimberley served as the U.S. marketing executive for Wu Tianming’s final film, Song of the Phoenix. Partnering with Janet Wu, Tianming’s daughter, she led the Golden Globe campaign in the U.S. and produced an introduction video featuring Martin Scorsese for the film’s theatrical release in China. As one of Scorsese’s favorite movies, Tianming’s The King of Masks holds special significance. Producer Fang Li (*The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru*, 2023) managed the campaign in China, while Kimberley handled U.S. efforts, resulting in Song of the Phoenix becoming China’s highest-grossing art film.
As founder and CEO of Big Screen Entertainment Group, Kimberley oversees a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including developing television series with writing teams and producing, developing, and distributing feature films.
