Italian playwright, screenwriter, and director. At 24, he earned a law degree but chose to pursue journalism instead. He worked with Dino Falconi on several successful stage comedies before transitioning to film shortly after the advent of sound. He soon took on directing in addition to writing films. During World War II, he became the artistic head of Scalera Films. He continued creating fiction, reviews, plays, and films, with his most famous screenplay being Bicycle Thieves (1948).
