Jeno Hodi, the Founder and Managing Director of the Budapest Film Academy, is an American-Hungarian director, writer, and producer with multiple awards to his name.
He earned his Master’s Degree in Film from Columbia University, New York, studying under renowned instructors such as Milos Forman, Brian De Palma, Frank Daniel, John Avildsen, and Dusan Makavejev. Notably, he was the first graduate student at Columbia to write, direct, and produce a 35mm feature-length film during his studies.
Jeno received extensive training in Los Angeles with top acting coaches including Milton Katselas and Stella Adler. He was also part of the writers/directors unit at the Actor’s Studio.
During his time in the US, Jeno wrote, directed, and produced a dozen feature and short films. Returning to Hungary, he recognized the need for a film school that teaches both the art and business of filmmaking, leading him to co-found the Budapest Film Academy in partnership with Eötvös Loránd University. In 2016, the academy became a study abroad provider for Loyola Marymount University.
Under Jeno’s leadership, the Budapest Film Academy has produced over 40 short films, many of which have received international awards. He also wrote and directed three short films that collectively won over a hundred awards. These films were compiled into an existentialist anthology titled *Skating on the Razor's Edge*.
Currently, Jeno is developing and preparing to produce a new film, *Beneath a Silent Sky*, which explores the personal transformation and resilience of individuals on the war-torn front lines of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
