Mareesa Stertz believes mental health needs a rebrand. The problem isn't that we're broken. It's that we all carry incomplete stories and unprocessed experiences, and not enough pathways exist to help us move through them. Story, she believes, is one of the most powerful and underutilized of those pathways.
She is the creator and host of the eight-part documentary series The Healing Powers of Psychedelics, screening on Gaia TV, Amazon, and Merry Jane, and director of the feature length documentary Damanhur. Her work has been featured by Viceland, CBS, IFC, SPIN, and 60SecDocs, shown at film festivals worldwide, and produced for clients including Participant Media, TEDx, Nylon, and Ableton Live. She is also co-founder of Lucid News where she produced and hosted 2 year storytelling series called, 'Adventures of the Psyche'.
Beyond film, she is the founding artist of Sphinx Gate, which debuted at Burning Man 2025 receiving the festival's largest art honoraria, and co-founder, steward, and head of Communications and Programming at the Global Psychedelic Society, a community network of nearly 300 chapters across 40+ countries.
