Jeferson De studied cinema at the University of São Paulo (USP), one of the most prestigious institutions in Latin America. There, he launched a project called "Dogma Feijoada," focused on audiovisual productions created by Black individuals both in front of and behind the camera. This initiative produced three short films: "Distraída pra Morte" (2001), "Carolina" (2003), and "Narciso Rap" (2005). His first feature film, _Bróder_ (2010), was selected for the 6th Sundance Screenwriters Lab, screened at the 60th Berlinale, and featured in festivals in Miami, New York, Chicago, and other cities worldwide. It also received awards at some of Brazil's leading film festivals. He directed the children’s TV series "Pedro e Bianca," which won an Emmy for Best Series at the 2nd International Emmy Kids Awards and the Ibero-American Prix Jeunesse in the fiction category for the 12-year-old age group. Throughout his career, De has directed multiple seasons and episodes of TV shows aired on various Brazilian channels. His second feature film, "O Amuleto," was released in 2015. The most recent film, _Correndo Atrás_, premiered at the Pan-African Film Festival in Los Angeles in February 2018. Currently, he is directing another children’s TV show, "Escola de Gênios," and developing new projects, including a biographical feature about Luiz Gama, a Black Brazilian intellectual who freed hundreds of slaves through his legal expertise.
