Born on July 12, 1963, in Moscow to theatrical figure Yuri Domogarov, he studied music alongside his general education during childhood. In 1984, he graduated from the Schepkin Theater School under the guidance of Viktor Ivanovich Korshunov. Between 1984 and 1985, he served at the Maly Theater in Moscow. From 1985 to 1995, he was an actor at the Central Academic Theater of the Soviet Army (renamed the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army in 1993). Since 1995, he has been a member of the Mossovet State Academic Theater, performing roles such as Marat in "My Poor Marat," Cyrano in "Cyrano de Bergerac," and dual roles of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the musical "The Strange Story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," a Russian adaptation of the Broadway musical "Jekyll and Hyde," showcasing his ability to perform demanding vocal parts.
He has also appeared in other theaters, taking on leading roles such as Nijinsky in "Nijinsky, the Crazy God Clown" at the Moscow Drama Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, and Macbeth at the Bogatella Theater in Krakow, Poland. As a guest artist during 2019-2020, he worked at the Gorky Moscow Art Theater, participating in Andrei Konchalovsky's trilogy by playing Astrov in "Uncle Vanya," Vershinin in "Three Sisters," and Gaev in "The Cherry Orchard." On September 13, 2020, the play "Richard III," directed by Nina Chusova and starring him in the titular role, premiered.
He has appeared in over 20 films and television series across Russia and Europe. His film career began in 1984 with his debut in "Inheritance," directed by Georgy Natanson. He gained fame portraying Pavel Gorin in Svetlana Druzhinina's 1992 historical adventure film "Midshipmen III." In 1996, he secured the role of the noble and handsome Count Bussy D'Ambois in the popular Russian TV series "Grafinya de Monsoro" (1997), based on Alexandre Dumas's novel, which brought him nationwide recognition.
His notable works also include the detective-adventure series "Turetsky's March" (2000-2007) and "Gangster Petersburg" (2000-2007). He earned international acclaim for his portrayal of the daring Cossack chieftain Bohun in the historical epic "With Fire and Sword" (1999), directed by cult Polish filmmaker Jerzy Hoffman. In Poland, he appeared in the television series "Crime Wave" (2003-2008) and "Blood from the Blood" (2012-2015), as well as in films such as Andrzej Wajda's "One June Night" and Jerzy Hoffmann's "The Battle of Warsaw. 1920" (2011). In Sweden, he featured in the film "The Diver" (2001), directed by Eric Gustavson.
