James Balsamo is a versatile artist—songwriter, actor, sculptor, but above all, an exceptional filmmaker. From a young age, he developed a passion for the Horror genre, attending his first Horror convention at just 8 years old.
As a child, James was certain about his future: to follow in the footsteps of his favorite slasher legends, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees. Driven by this dream, he persuaded his parents to enroll him in acting classes. Studying at renowned New York acting schools, including Lee Strasberg, James’ love for film and performance deepened. A lifelong New Yorker, he pursued his career at Professional Performing Arts High School in New York City. After high school, he grew weary of stage acting and decided to shift his focus to film. Leaving theatrical roles behind, he embraced filmmaking at Five Towns College, diving into on-screen storytelling.
Balsamo works both in front of and behind the camera in many of his projects, including his latest film, Hack Job. Created on a budget under $60,000, Hack Job has premiered internationally, is being distributed worldwide, and has earned notable recognition during the NYC tour featuring music legends GWAR and Ghoul. Currently, James is promoting "I Spill Your Guts" while gearing up for his next film, Cool As Hell.
