Kelsey Keel, a teenager from Northern Virginia, won an Emmy Award for her role in the Showtime Original Picture for All Ages, My Louisiana Sky (2001). She was nominated alongside Hume Cronyn, Juliette Lewis, Stephen Rea, and Kevin Clash in the same category. This marked Kelsey's first acting project. Afterward, she performed in "Trudy Blue" at the Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C., written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman. Kelsey recently earned her high school diploma. She has three older brothers: Jon-Michael Downing, Patrick Downing, and Frankie Keel. Her family also includes a sister-in-law, Val Downing, and a niece, Jana Downing, whom she adores. Kelsey enjoys spending time with her family. Her father, Wade Keel, owns a growing custom picture framing business and a beverage store in D.C. In her free time, she often helps out at her father's business. She also loves watching her brother Frankie excel in lacrosse and football. When traveling for acting, Kelsey is accompanied by her mother, Karen Keel, who runs a dance school in Fairfax, Virginia. Kelsey has many hobbies including shopping. She has played the drums for eight years, the piano for eleven, and has been dancing since she was four.
