Apostolos Souglakos was born in Maniatika (Piraeus/Athens). His father, who already had three daughters, was delighted to have a son. Apostolos was never a strong student, but he aspired to be the strongest and most honest of all. He did not finish his schooling. Later, he devoted his time to sports. He joined a football team for three months, and at age 10, he began training in boxing at a gym. However, none of these sports truly captured his interest. He soon turned to wrestling, which allowed him to gain fame and travel throughout Europe, Africa, and the USA.
In the early 1960s, Apostolos started taking minor roles in films. He claims to have appeared in over 60 movies. The peak of his career was undoubtedly the 1980s. In 1984, he landed his first leading role in the film Ta katharmata, which was a major hit at the time. The following year, he starred in To remali tis Athinas (1987), a provocative exploitation film by Greek standards then. Afterward, he acted in three video movies, which were also well received.
When the video era ended in Greece, he returned to wrestling, his first passion. Meanwhile, he continued to appear in TV shows and series. In 2000, he ventured into music, releasing his debut CD titled "Rapismata."
In 2002, he made a comeback to cinema with Ta remalia (2003), a film that upheld the strong tradition of Souglakos' work.
