Jolyon is a BAFTA-winning co-writer and actor. He recently won the BROADCAST AWARD 2022 for Best Entertainment Programme, following his 2021 win of the BROADCAST DIGITAL AWARD for Best Lockdown Programme in the Comedy, Entertainment & Scripted category for the third series of his hip-hop themed panel show Don't Hate The Playaz, which he created and associate produced in 2018.
Don't Hate The Playaz was praised by Digital Spy as "instantly everyone's new favourite TV show." Hosted by Jordan Stephens and featuring Maya Jama, it brought something fresh and exciting to the channel. Its second series made UK TV history with the first-ever all-Black, all-female panel.
Jolyon is an actor, writer, producer, and director. In 2013, he won a BAFTA for his BBC3 programme The Revolution Will Be Televised, developed with Joe Wade and Heydon Prowse. The Guardian described it as "Sacha Baron Cohen with a bit more substance." The show ran for three successful series. BBC3 later commissioned An Idiot's Guide to Politics, which Jolyon starred in, and in 2015, the BBC commissioned the spin-off Revolution Presents: Democracy Dealers. This was followed by the BBC2 series Revolting, which Jolyon both wrote and starred in.
Revolting, produced by Hat Trick Productions, aired on BBC2 in January 2017. It is estimated to have reached 75 million Facebook users, with its lead sketch, The Real Housewives Of ISIS, garnering 30 million views and becoming a global news story. The sketch ranked as the eighth most shared in BBC history.
In 2021, Jolyon directed a series of stunt films for Stella McCartney in London, New York, and Milan to promote the ban on fur sales as part of Stella’s Autumn '21 collection and the "Our Time Has Come" campaign. He also partnered with the Vaccine Alliance to direct a film urging world leaders to waive vaccine patents for global rollout. Additionally, he directed a Greenpeace film highlighting the UK’s inadequate climate action and produced and directed an animated film for the Humane Society to raise awareness about mass animal agriculture ahead of COP26.
