Originally from Russia, Rina Gri is a distinguished actress whose journey showcases both talent and perseverance. Opposing war, she relocated to Europe and now lives in Bucharest.
Beginning her career at 13 in the BBC mini-series "Crime and Punishment," directed by Julian Jarrold, Rina soon shifted to theatre to further hone her craft. Her ability to perform both comedic and dramatic roles emerged early, and she has consistently appeared in film and television since. With a background in ballet and music, she frequently incorporated her musical skills into her projects.
Rina trained at prestigious institutions such as the St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles. In 2022, she earned a scholarship to attend the International Screen Acting workshop at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany, chosen from nearly 500 European actors.
Her breakthrough came with key roles in the acclaimed TV series "Kitchen" and "Hotel Eleon," both award-winning. She then starred as 'Alisa' in the popular and award-winning TV series and film franchise "Policemen" by Ilya Kulikov, which boosted her recognition across Russia and advanced her career.
Her first American project, the short film "The Girl Who is Selling Fish," saw her in the lead role of 'Liza' and as a producer. It premiered at Filmfest Bremen in 2022 and received praise at U.S. festivals like the Long Island International Film Expo and Richmond International Film Festival, earning multiple nominations and awards globally.
Rina Gri’s career encompasses a wide range of roles linked by a focus on exploring past traumas, inner conflicts, and unresolved issues. As both actress and producer, she is dedicated to storytelling that tackles universal themes such as mental health, social challenges, the immigrant experience, and the deep effects of loss and loneliness.
In the upcoming feature film "The Secret of Pin-Up Island," directed by Romanian Alecs Nastoiu, Rina stars as the lead character 'Alesia'. She also produces and stars in the Romania-UK short film "Seven Days and a Coke," portraying 'Marika,' a Polish immigrant living with Borderline Personality Disorder.
