Jarek Marszewski is a celebrated director and screenwriter known globally for his innovative filmmaking and distinctive visual style.
He studied directing at FAMU, the renowned Film and TV Academy in Prague, Czech Republic, before graduating from the Kieslowski Film Department at Silesian University in Poland. Additionally, he earned a degree from the English Department at Wroclaw University, Poland.
His short films have garnered numerous awards at international festivals. His feature debut, Tomorrow, Heaven Comes, won the Best First Film Award at the Festroia Film Festival in Setubal, Portugal, the Best Actor Award at the Gdynia Film Festival in Poland, and the Critics' Award at the Young Film Festival in Koszalin, Poland.
His second feature, Bikini Blue, has received over 50 awards worldwide, including Best Foreign Film at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, and Best Picture at the Los Angeles Film Awards, New York Film Awards, Festigious Film Festival (Los Angeles), London Eye Film Festival (UK), Fabrique du Cinema Awards (Italy), Directors Cut IFF (Vancouver), and La Paz International Film Festival (Bolivia), among others.
Beyond film, Jarek has directed several notable international dramas such as The Conspirators (Mlody Pilsudski, Poland, 2018/2019) and The Murder Commission (Komisja Morderstw, Poland, 2016), as well as acclaimed operas including Aida (Italy/Qatar for Al Arabia TV, 2002), Madame Butterfly (Italy/South Africa for SABC TV, 2000), and The Magic Flute (Opera Podlaska, Poland, 2014).
