Tim Powell is recognized for his recurring roles in well-known TV series. He portrays Robert, the Chief of Security at General Hospital, and Circuit Court Judge Shapiro on CSI: Vegas. His acting career spans major networks including CBS, Amazon, ABC, Fox, and NBC. On CBS, he appeared in The Neighborhood, while on ABC, he featured in episodes of Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and Revenge, where he played the Chairman of the Board of Southampton Medical Center, directed by Helen Hunt. In the acclaimed Fox comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he took on the role of the no-nonsense, jaded, and cynical Chief of Detectives. He also appeared in Season 3 of Showtime's Ray Donovan as the cynical, jaded Chief of Police. Beyond television, Tim has collaborated with distinguished filmmakers such as Robert Altman, John Sayles, and Michael Bay, and has been directed by notable figures including Rosemary Rodriguez, Jay Roach, Tom Hanks, John Badham, and Joan Tewkesbury. Outside of acting, Tim is dedicated to teaching and coaching actors. He developed and taught Technology and Minimalism classes for The SAG-AFTRA Conservatory at the American Film Institute in Hollywood. He also instructs self-taping techniques, presenting his Self-Taping Solutions Workshops to esteemed organizations like SAG-AFTRA, The Television Academy, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, UCLA, USC, A-List International, CBS, and Netflix. In 2023, he joined the TV Academy's Performers Peer Group Executive Committee. When not working or coaching, Tim enjoys exploring the Southern California mountains and savoring fresh seafood in Malibu. He occasionally visits his adult children in Seattle and Orlando.
