Danor (DAY-ner) Gerald was raised in rural Mississippi, Chicago, and Texas. After high school, he studied theater at a private liberal arts university in Arkansas. He began his professional acting career in Dallas after returning home to attend a local acting conservatory. A favorite among Equity theaters, he earned critical acclaim for his roles as Tom Robinson and the Preacher in "To Kill a Mockingbird" at DCT, as well as Manuel in "The Gingerbread Lady." He participated in the original casts of several world premieres in Dallas, including adaptations of William Faulkner's Nobel Prize-winning works "The Sound and the Fury" and "Manchild in the Promised Land." Danor quickly became a beloved actor among audiences, directors, and critics, appearing in numerous Equity productions throughout Dallas. From there, he transitioned to larger stages at Disney World and expanded into performing and directing theater.
During this period, Danor's television career began to develop with a recurring role on the series "Sheena." He subsequently appeared in TV shows and independent films for Hallmark, SyFy Channel, Lifetime, and various indie projects. Gerald starred as Sgt. Jesse Owens in "Saints and Soldiers: The Void" (2014) and is best known for his roles in teen-focused films such as "High School Musical 2," "Forever Strong," and "House of Fears."
Danor made his directorial debut with the narrative feature film "Grandpa's Crazy?" Serving as writer, director, and editor, the film's post-production and visual effects were handled by Monark Media, a company Gerald founded in 2020. This debut earned him "Best Director of the Year" awards at The India Global International Film Festival, Airflix Film Festival, and The Utah Film Festival, along with numerous other accolades including Audience Choice awards.
