Stephen Young Chin - Producer / Director / Storyteller
Stephen Young Chin is an accomplished Producer and Director with more than 25 years of experience in film, television, and post-production. A graduate of York University's Film Production program (BFA Honours), Stephen has built one of the most well-rounded careers in the Canadian screen industry-bridging creativity, technology, and business with an instinct for stories that connect.
Stephen began his journey in staging and art direction, developing a sharp visual sensibility before moving into cinematography as a camera assistant with IATSE Local 667. Over the next two decades, he became a leader in post-production, earning distinction as an Avid Certified Service Representative, a facility owner, and a consultant to major broadcasters and studios. His work has helped deliver over 1,000 hours of television and feature programming for the most demanding clients that include Mercedes-Benz, Sony, Kraft Foods, CIBC, TrizecHahn, Barrick Gold, CBC, IMAX, Miramax Films, Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, Alliance Atlantis, HBO, Bravo, Turner Broadcasting, Entertainment One, and Showtime Networks.
As a Producer and Director, Stephen has helmed projects for many of Canada's leading broadcasters. His acclaimed feature documentary Cricket Nation, which he wrote, directed, and produced, was commissioned by Rogers Broadcasting and aired on Sportsnet, CityTV, and OMNI Television. In 2025, Cricket Nation was acquired by the New York-based international streaming service FuboTV, where it now reaches over 2 million subscribers worldwide.
Stephen brings a strong understanding of film financing and incentives, having successfully secured support from Telefilm Canada, the Canada Media Fund, and various provincial and federal funding bodies. His expertise extends to navigating Ontario Creates, the CRTC, and the CRA to generate film and television tax credits-a valuable asset to any production he leads.
Known for his calm professionalism and creative focus, Stephen combines hands-on production experience with a strategic understanding of how to position and deliver projects for both artistic success and commercial return. Whether guiding a feature film, series, or documentary, he is dedicated to crafting work that resonates across cultures and endures beyond trends.
Today, as founder of Cricket Nation Production Ltd, Stephen continues to champion stories with vision, emotion, and purpose-projects that bridge creativity and commerce while reflecting the depth, diversity, and spirit of the world.
