Riza Santos gained global attention when she was officially crowned Miss Universe Canada. She has appeared as a guest on numerous television programs, including CNN, Australia Today, eTalk, and ABS-CBN, and has been featured in People Magazine. Known for her strong work ethic, determination, and diverse skill set, Riza has achieved significant success. She is of Filipino, Spanish, and Chinese heritage and was born in Canada to immigrant parents. Many of her relatives came to Canada as graduate students on prestigious scholarships, and she grew up in a family that highly values education and academic achievement. From an early age, she was taught to appreciate critical thinking and the pursuit of knowledge.
Inspired by her grandmother's bravery during World War II, Riza chose to join the Canadian Forces. As a reservist, she balanced her military duties with community involvement and her studies. Her mental strength and abilities became evident during the demanding training as a soldier. The lessons she gained equipped her for the fast-paced environments of international business and entertainment.
Riza collaborated with the Canadian International Development Agency in the Philippines. Soon after arriving, she was cast in the popular prime-time family show Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition 2. After spending 84 days in the Big Brother house, she received half a million votes and finished as the Second Big Placer. This success earned her a large fan base and instant celebrity status in the Philippines, leading to numerous offers for magazine covers, endorsements, billboards, TV shows, and movies. She starred as the leading lady in several blockbuster Philippine films and became an international TV host for A.P.T. in Manila and Macau. From being named one of OK! Magazine Philippines' "Most Beautiful People" to walking the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Moscow, Riza has built a strong following and is a respected figure in the Canadian pageant community. She has a dedicated fan base within the pageant world and was widely recognized in the Philippines. With a carefully cultivated public image developed over her extensive career, she possesses deep self-awareness and insight into herself and the world around her.
