Celeste Sully is a Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based actress, writer, director, and former Division I basketball player who brings the discipline of an athlete and the soul of a poet to every role.
Raised between jazz dance classes at the legendary Gus Giordano Dance Studio, street ball, and Chicago’s underground hip-hop scene, Celeste developed an early love for movement, storytelling, and fearless self-expression. After earning a full basketball scholarship and graduating with a degree in Biology, she traded the laboratory for Los Angeles and began building a career in front of and behind the camera.
Celeste broke through as a lead in the psychological thriller 1BR, which became a Netflix Top 10 hit. Her television and film credits also include Second Generation Wayans, portraying Perri "Pebbles" Reid in Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, and campaigns for brands including Kenra Professionals, Dasani, CB2, Subway, National Car Rental, and Nioxin.
As a filmmaker, Celeste wrote and directed Naked: A Visual Poem, a captivating fusion of poetry and visual storytelling that won Best Short Film at Women of Color Filmmakers 2020 Anniversary.
The daughter of an Afro-Indo Guyanese mother who spent more than 30 years working as an HIV/AIDS unit nurse, Celeste was raised to value service, resilience, and the power of representation. She continues that legacy as a board member of WOCF, helping create space for bold and underrepresented voices.
