Dario Ceruti was born in Borgo San Giacomo (Brescia). Following a Master’s degree in Communication and specialized training in Advertising and Directing, he began his cinematic career as a Casting Director and Assistant Director, collaborating with some of the most prominent figures in contemporary film.
His extensive filmography features partnerships with acclaimed directors such as Paolo Virzì (Caterina in the Big City, The First Beautiful Thing, Like Crazy, Cinque Secondi), Niccolò Ammaniti (The Miracle, Anna), and Francesca Archibugi (La Storia, Illusione). He has also worked with international talent such as Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), as well as celebrated Italian filmmakers including Marco Tullio Giordana, Lucio Pellegrini, Roan Johnson, Eugenio Cappuccio, Simone Godano, Walter Veltroni, and Sabina Guzzanti. For his work on Michele Riondino’s Palazzina LAF, he received a Nastro d’Argento nomination for Best Casting. His accolades also include the Sanpietrino d’Oro (2010) for Best Casting Director for The First Beautiful Thing and the "Una vita per il cinema" award (2011).
For several years, Ceruti has been a permanent collaborator of the Venice International Film Festival (La Biennale di Venezia), working closely with Director Alberto Barbera. His continuous contribution spans from the 71st to the 83rd (2026) edition of the festival, where he manages event organization for sections such as Sala Giardino Spotlight and Biennale College, alongside coordinating the official opening and closing ceremonies. He previously held a similar role for the Torino Film Festival.
Deeply committed to education, over the last decade Ceruti has regularly taught acting and casting at Italy’s most prestigious institutions, including the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, the Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.
