Charley Rossman is a versatile character actor dedicated to continually honing his craft. His recent notable work includes starring in "This Way Up," an AFI/Jeremy Cloe film that won the Academy Award for Best Student Narrative Short.
He attended Edgewood High School, the University of La Verne, and Whittier College. A former ASB President and talented athlete, Charley played football and rugby throughout college and briefly competed professionally. He also studied abroad with World Campus Afloat, traveling the world while pursuing his education. At Whittier College School of Law, one of his instructors was TMZ's Harvey Levin. Charley earned both a BA and a Juris Doctor degree, passed the California Bar, and enjoyed a successful career as a lawyer and civil litigator, including a brief tenure in the Public Defender’s Office. He is the father of two sons: Bubby Rossman, a pitcher drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2014, and Spencer, a recent University of Oregon graduate.
Charley's acting career began in 1992 with various action and comedic roles. He also performed high falls into wood planks five times daily as part of the Universal Studios Stunt Team. His comedic talents shone in films like "Superbad," the #1 box office hit featuring his memorable line, "Don't do it, kid." He first gained recognition through soap operas, notably playing the mayor in "Port Charles." Known for portraying a wide range of characters, including detectives and tough but endearing authority figures, Charley has appeared in shows such as "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "CSI" (in five recurring episodes), and "The Tick." He has collaborated multiple times with writer/director Lee Citron, including on the Emmy-winning student film "Martian American."
Films starring Charley have achieved success on the festival circuit, earning several nominations. These include "Windrider" and the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival nominee "Egg," which was up for Best Comedy Short. In 2017, Tribeca also nominated "The Suitcase" for Best Short.
