Èzili Dantò is a creator, screenwriter, and author who transforms untold history into high-concept, cinematic television. Born in Port-au-Prince, Hayti, her work reclaims the epic, pre-colonial histories and mythic foundations of Afrikan civilizations and their global descendants.
(2024-present) Dantò is the creator and writer of the limited series TOYA: The Warrior Who Raised An Empire, a prestige drama tracing the secret history of the Ayiti Revolution. The series centers on Toya, an elite Dahomean Agoji warrior and intelligence operative who covertly trained the revolution’s most formidable leader, Janjak Desalin, from childhood. Synthesizing extensive archival research with lived cultural knowledge, TOYA unfolds as a sweeping saga of tactical espionage, spiritual cosmology, Afrikan military tradition, and maroon resistance.
Her storytelling is informed by decades of scholarly research and subject-matter expertise in Vodun spirituality, revolutionary warfare, and intelligence networks long erased from official histories. Dantò’s analysis bridging culture, history, and current events has been featured in international outlets including Global Research, The Progressive, and Black Agenda Report.
