Lolo Ferrari, born Eve Valois, gained notoriety for undergoing more plastic surgeries than any other adult film star. She had her face lifted, eyes reshaped, lips plumped, and most notably, received multiple silicone injections that enlarged her breasts to 71 inches, weighing a record-setting 26 pounds, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. She stated that the primary motivation for her extensive surgeries was her mother's constant criticism during her childhood, telling her she was ugly, repulsive, and unintelligent, and that no man would ever want her. To some extent, she defied her mother's words by becoming one of Europe's most popular adult film actresses, known for her willingness to engage in almost any sexual act with anyone, or any number of partners. Beyond her adult film fame in Europe, she frequently appeared in nightclubs, late-night TV shows, and even released a single titled "Air Bag Generation." Although she had limited exposure in the United States, plans were in motion for her to enter that market when she was discovered dead on March 5, 2000, by her husband in their home on the French Riviera. She was known to suffer from chronic depression, and her husband revealed that shortly before her death, she had visited a funeral home to inquire about arrangements.
An autopsy initially revealed that she died from an overdose of prescribed antidepressants, but further forensic investigation determined that suffocation was the cause of death. Her husband was soon arrested on charges of failing to prevent her death. A second medical examination conducted in 2007 ultimately cleared him of all charges.
