Lawrence Naumoff is the author of 6 novels and a book of short stories. He teaches at UNC in Chapel Hill, where he lives. He spent years building architect designed houses(actually building them himself), and worked on his novels taking off a year, here and there, from the carpentry, to write another book. Eventually he stopped building and soon after took a job at UNC teaching creative writing. His film activity is associated with his books and their options, one screenplay and a CBS film of another book. For "Rootie Kazootie", the options have been held, by, at one time or the other, Richard Brick, Alphonso and Carlos Cuaron, and finally by Diane Lane. For "The Night of the Weeping Women,", the option was held by Mindy Marin for app. 5 years. Naumoff wrote a screenplay of the book for her, done "for hire."
