Kushal Awasthi is an Indian television director based in Mumbai whose work spans a diverse array of mythological, historical, and contemporary family dramas. Born in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, he completed his schooling at City Montessori School in Lucknow before graduating from National College in Bandra. Raised in an academically inclined household, his father Uma Shankar Awasthi is a retired government officer, while his mother Neeta Awasthi is a retired lecturer who remains active in public life.
Awasthi's television career is marked by both creative direction and directorial roles. He first gained attention as Creative Director and Director of Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman on Sony TV, followed by directing Baal Krishna on Zee TV and Padmavat Krishna on &TV. He again combined roles as Creative Director and Director on Sony SAB's Aladdin: Naam Toh Suna Hoga, and contributed as Second Unit Director to the historical series Jhansi Ki Rani on Colors TV.
Building on this range, Awasthi directed family-friendly hits like Baal Veer, Tenali Rama, and Maddam Sir (all on Sony SAB), as well as the devotional series Brij Ke Gopal on Dangal TV. He also directed the period drama Punyashlok Ahilyabai on Sony TV and the regional series Saajha Sindoor on Sun TV.
