Azra Akin (born December 8, 1981, Almelo, Netherlands) won Elite Model Look Turkey in 1998, qualifying for the Elite Model Look International competition where she reached the top 15 and became a finalist. In 2002, she won the Miss Turkey title and represented Turkey at the Miss World contest, where she was crowned Miss World. She was the second Turkish woman to win the title, following Keriman Halis in 1932.
In 2003, she participated in the reality show "The Games" on England's Channel 4, where she emerged as the winner. In 2004, Azra became the face of the Turkey International Tourism Campaign and began her acting career with the TV series "Yagmur Zamani," followed by roles in "Oyun Bitti," "Ruzgar," "Ayrilik," "Genis Aile," and "M.U.C.K." She debuted in cinema in 2005 with the film "Anlat Istanbul" and appeared as a guest star in "Ilk Ask" (2006), "Pespese" (2010), and "Cilek," which was scheduled for release in 2014. She has also performed in the theatre production "72. Kogus."
In 2011, Azra won the inaugural Turkish season of "Dancing With The Stars" and served as a jury member for the show the following year. She has been the face of numerous Turkish and international brands, including Avon, Pepsi, Pantene, Avea, and Arcelik, with commercials aired across Turkey and other countries where she is well recognized.
Alongside her charitable work following her Miss World win, Azra was appointed in 2012 as the face and voice of the UNFPA Turkey Office's campaign against violence toward women.
She is fluent in Turkish, English, Dutch, and German.
