Mauro Alves Garcia is a Brazilian broadcaster, professor, manager and television director.
He graduated in Literary Studies from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and has over forty years experience in social communication, mainly television. He worked as TV programming director at TV Cultura, one of Brazil's main open TV channels that is fully dedicated to cultural and educational programs. He was also one of the creators of TV Ra-tim-bum, Brazil's first pay TV channel entirely dedicated to kids' programs.
He is Executive President of Brasil Audiovisual Independente (BRAVI), an entity that represents over 600 content producers for television and digital media in the national and international market; Executive Director of the Brazilian Audiovisual Content Institute (ICAB), an institution dedicated to the development of actions and activities aimed at training, market research and cooperation agreements with other institutes around the world; Member of the Board of Directors of MIS SP - Museu da Imagem e do Som de São Paulo; Member of the Deliberative Council of SET - Sociedade de Engenharia de Televisão; Associate member of the Academia Brasileira de Cinema; Member of the Advisory Board of the Mercosul Co-production Meeting of the Mercosul Audiovisual Festival - FAM.
