Carolyn Fe is a multilingual Filipino-Canadian fluent in English, French and Tagalog. A former Montrealer now based in Toronto, Ontario, she splits her time between Canada and Mexico for work and play. She is a creative who wears many artistic hats. A Dora Mavis Moore Award and Betty Mitchell Award nominee, her talents extend far beyond the screen and stage. Carolyn is also a gifted singer-songwriter and lyricist, a former contemporary dancer-choreographer, and an emergent playwright whose work focuses on underrepresented voices. As an actor, Carolyn brings characters to life in acclaimed series such as the Emmy-winning Blue’s Clues & You! (as Lola), the award-winning French series Meilleur Avant (as Madame Z), and PBS Kids’ Work It Out Wombats! (as Gabriela), among many others. On stage, her performances resonate deeply with audiences; from her grounded portrayal of Tasanee in The Brothers Paranormal (Vertigo Theatre, Calgary), to Marina in an adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya (Crow’s Theatre, Toronto), to her nuanced depiction of Precy Calpurnia (Nightwood Theatre, Toronto). Her sharp comedic timing is evident in her portrayal of a murderous grandmother in Three Women of Swatow (Tarragon Theatre, Toronto), a performance that earned her a Dora Award nomination for Best Performance in a Leading Role. From her early days as a dancer and choreographer, Carolyn has continually expands her creative repertoire with the latest addition as a published writer. She crafts poignant narratives that explore ageism, the experiences of women of color, and the lives of marginalized communities. Carolyn’s literary work has garnered recognition both locally and internationally. Her short stories have appeared in prestigious publications, while her intergenerational poem Your Lola Is Fierce has been embraced by the Toronto Catholic District School Board, enriching the curriculum for Grades 10 and 11. In 2024, her poem I Clearly Remember was published in the first Filipino-Canadian anthology, Magdaragat: An Anthology of Filipino-Canadian Writing, a testament to her growing impact in literature. These works explore themes ranging from the complexities of inter-generational relationships to the chilling depths of the supernatural. Her heritage and life journey inform the richness of her storytelling and the enduring power of her artistic voice.
