In his 1996 law school graduation yearbook, Charles proclaimed that he would one day lead a diversified entertainment and media company. Just over 15 years later, that vision came to life with the founding of MACRO. As CEO, he defines the overall vision, mission, and strategic objectives for MACRO and its various business divisions. Prior to launching MACRO in 2015, Charles was a Partner and Agent in the Motion Picture Department at William Morris Endeavor (WME). He is the first—and so far only—African-American to advance from the Beverly Hills office’s training program in the film and TV group to become a Partner in WME’s more than 100-year history. Renowned across the industry for his innovative deal-making, talent identification, and strategic long-term planning, Charles has been featured in Fortune, The New York Times Magazine, Fast Company, NPR, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Complex, Essence, and numerous other outlets. A committed angel investor and philanthropist, he is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and serves on several nonprofit boards, including the Sundance Institute, the NBA Players Association, Think 450, and College Track, where he holds the position of National Vice President. Charles earned a BA from Vanderbilt University and a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law.
