Mark Akkerman was born in Rockford, Illinois on August 25th, 1963. After several moves across the country Mark's family moved to Idaho in 1973. Mark had always been interested in film and photography. He started acting in Jr. High school and majored in Theater Arts at Boise State University.
Mark spent much of his adult life in finance and insurance. He was the first Recreational Vehicle Finance Manager in Idaho and founded Star Financial. During this time he continued writing and acting in Auto Dealers commercials, most notably, the Everybody Rides campaign with Captain Credit.
He left the finance industry in 2008 and attempted to make a living with video productions. In 2016 He, along with Brad Smith started Boise TV 22.3. This medium allowed Mark to showcase original content such as, What The...,Weirdo Vision, Film Noir, Insomniac as well as local programming like the Idaho 48 Hour Film Competition and Festival. Boise TV 22.3 went off the air in the latter part of February, 2017 replaced by Hero's and Icons Television.
Mark continued his interest by expanding his horizons with TVCTV and starting many "Smart TV" channels like, Boise TV, TVCTV, and Real Talk. All available on Roku TV.
