Born and raised outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michael came to Chicago in 1999 to study film production at Columbia College. Focusing his studies towards cinematography, writing, and producing, Michael was one of 100 students chosen worldwide to participate in Kodak and the American Pavilion's internship program at the 2001 Cannes International Film Festival.
His first short film Palooka, was produced as part of Columbia's independent project program, and began principal photography May of 2003. Palooka marks his first efforts as both director and screenwriter.
He's now staying busy with his upressplay.com cohorts on a variety of site related projects, while working as a freelance artist in commercial film and video production. Michael is currently finalizing development on his first feature film project, which he plans to shoot in Chicago, his current home.
