A three-time Emmy nominee, Dondré Whitfield has built a career spanning more than 25 years, collaborating with industry icons like John Travolta, Helen Mirren, David Oyelowo, Michael B. Jordan, and Kevin Hart. For over three decades, he has shared the screen with some of the entertainment world's biggest names.
Dondré was a series regular on Ava DuVernay's QUEEN SUGAR on OWN, portraying Remy Newell, a role that earned him a 2018 NAACP Award nomination. He also starred alongside Kevin Hart in the popular BET comedy series Real Husbands of Hollywood. Whitfield has demonstrated his range as both a comedic and dramatic actor in numerous films, including the Independent Spirit Award and Sundance Award-winning Middle of Nowhere opposite David Oyelowo, directed by Ava DuVernay; the comedy 35 and Ticking with Kevin Hart; the critically acclaimed drama Pastor Brown opposite Michael B. Jordan; the comedies Mr. 3000 with Bernie Mac and Two Can Play That Game with Vivica A. Fox; and the Helen Mirren-directed film Happy Birthday alongside John Goodman.
On stage, Dondré has performed at the esteemed Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, in Ceremonies in Dark Old Men. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he received formal training at Performing Arts High School in New York City.
Beyond acting, Whitfield is an award-winning author of the bestselling book Male vs Man: How to Honor Women, Teach Children, and Elevate Men to Change the World. He also created a digital series on his Male vs Man YouTube channel, fostering discussions about manhood with influential figures like Will Smith, Kevin Hart, and DL Hughley.
Dondré and his wife, actress and director Salli Richardson Whitfield, have been recognized as one of the nation's most notable celebrity couples. They reside in Los Angeles with their two children.
